Hello and Welcome to Pinon Unified School District No 4.


Pinon Unified School District No. 4 is a Public School located in Pinon on the Navajo Reservation in Northeastern Arizona. With a local population of over 2,000 people, it has that small community atmosphere. Pinon Unified School District offers educational services to the local residents and the surrounding communities of Hard Rock, Forrest Lake, Whippoorwill, Blue Gap, Cottonwood, Low Mountain, and Black Mesa

Pinon Elementary School first opened its doors in 1984 to service a student population of 400.  The Founding Members of the School were Sanford Coochyouma, Lucy Rios, Clark Etsitty and Bahe Jackson. Cedar Public School District No. 25 provided service to the school until 1986 when it branched off to become the Pinon Unified School District No. 4.  Pinon Unified School District has grown from servicing grades K-8 to K-12. The new High School was built in 1995 and opened its doors to students in 1996.  The Middle School was built in 1999 and in 2001 another addition was added to accommodate the increasing number of students.

Pinon Unified School District No. 4’s current student enrollment is 1,335. 557 of the 1,335 students are enrolled in Pinon Elementary School. Pinon Accelerated Middle School student enrollment is 351 and Pinon High School student enrollment is 427. The three schools have an average attendance rate of 92%. An outstanding accomplishment of Pinon High School is that they met the State AYP during the School Years 2005 - 2006, 2007 – 2008, 2008 – 2009 and 2009 – 2010 which became the only Public School on the Reservation to have such an accomplishment
