Pinon Supervisory Health Promotion Coordinator works with and assists the Chinle Service Unit Coordinator to manage the CSU HP Department and manage the Pinon Health Promotion staff, media, and HP program. Pinon Health Promotion serves seven Communities and six schools: Pinon, Black Mesa, Forest Lake, Hardrock, Blue Gap, Whippoorwill and Low Mountain.
Health Promotion Programs include Community Wellness and Fitness Program, Injury Prevention, Navajo Coordinated School Health and most recently a Marketing Program. We, at Pinon are a team of five. I believe in staff development and nurturing leadership.
I am also the Public Information Officer for the Pinon Health Center. In this capacity my job is to collect, verity, and disseminate information to the public through effective communication.

Support staff assists HP/DP programs in the coordination, development and implementation, and evaluation of the Community Wellness Network activities by maintaining data tracking for all community fitness activities, reporting purposes, project oversight and monitoring, volunteer trainings, program evaluations instruments development, assists to provide technical assistances to all staff, and prepares and reviews for accuracy all obligating documents such as travel orders, travel vouchers, requisitions, purchase orders and training requests.

Community Wellness Program is designed to get the community and schools in to a program they can continually do with the resources they have locally. It addresses community members, children and elders alike and encourages worksite wellness as well. Classes are conducted for various groups. Training for Community Fitness Leaders is available for some of the exercise programs. Promoting fitness and exercise programs are year round for the seven communities and five local schools under Pinon Health Promotion.

Health Technicians purpose is to assist department public health professionals in providing public health services to individuals, families, schools, and communities. Health Techs also provide assesses to client and/or family health needs by measurements of height, weight, and vital signs, as well as assessment of social, cultural and environmental assets. Techs provide health education/promotion intervention assessments of health needs, monitoring of health status, appropriate documentation, and feedback to all public health and communities.

School Health Technician assist in working with the school to plan, develop, and implement comprehensive school health programs that meet the needs of public and BIA schools in the Chinle Service Unit. School Health Technician continues to assist with teacher training, program development, testing, implementation and evaluation. School Health Technician also assists schools with financial support obtainment, i.e. grant proposal to IHS, tribal, and commercial resources.
