Pinon JROTC

On this past Saturday, Pinon HS JROTC competed in the 14th Annual Lori Piestewa Invitational Drill and Raider Meet at Hopi high school. There were seven schools in attendance and they came from as far away as Yuma AZ. Our teams entered three different divisions, varsity color guard, junior varsity color guard, and armed regulation drill.   Adriano Mclaughlin commanded the JV color guard team for the first time in competition and they came away with first place. The rest of the team were Logan Shorthair, Alexandra Attakai, and Cyenna Braget. All freshmen all amazing.

The Drill Team got second place in Armed Regulation Drill. The team consisted of Juan BegayeIII, Juwan Begaye, Skye Johnson, Jerrell Keyonnie, Kyrsten Smith, Justina Smith, Shayla Charlie, and Alsondria Jodie. They were commanded by Zane Small, and it was his experience that made the difference.

Our varsity Color Guard team brought home the second place trophy.  Azealia Manygoats, Taylor Fowler, Larrison Yazzie, and their sophomore Commander Brianna Kai put on a nearly flawless performance.  This is the team that leads the Navajo Nation parade, got invited to participate in the Navajo Presidential inauguration, taken the Navajo Nation flag to a color guard at an NFL football game and won third place at the West Coast Nationals.  They all did an awesome job and I am very proud of them.
