Welcome to the Pinon USD Diné Studies site.  We encourage you caretakers to view the Caretakers Resource page for resources to encourage Diné language use in the homes. Please visit this page periodically for the latest tips and updates in language learning.

Clear Goals to Reclaim our Languages:

  • Nizaad bee yáníłti’ - Speak your language

  • T’áá ́ákwííjį́ nizaad chiiníł’į́ - Use the language daily

  • Nooséłí nizaad bee bich’į́’ yáníłti’ - Raise our children in the languages

  • Nihizaad bee yádeelti’go éiyá nihinaagǫ́ǫ́ nihizaad bee yá’áti’doo- Create a language community

Simple Rules to Follow - both Speakers and Learners

  • No criticizing about pronunciation, correctness, dialects

  • Encourage each other; don't let criticism stop you from learning.

  • Learn to speak and communicate - learn ABOUT the Language later.

  • Remind Speakers to use and stay in the Language.
